Fire Safety Training
London Fire Brigade, the enforcing authority for London deem the following to be adequate Fire Safety Training. Firstly it varies from business to business and London Fire Consultants can conduct a specific training needs analysis for your organisation but generally includes:
- Induction training to cover general fire awareness.
- Periodic refresher training, or extra training where the level of fire risk increases as a result of changes in your operations.
- Training to support people in meeting their fire safety duties – for example, keeping your 'responsible people' up to date.
- Training to build appropriate skills such as fire risk assessment, fire warden or using fire extinguishers.
UK Legislation requires that the Responsible person must ensure that his employees are provided with adequate safety training which include is suitable and sufficient instruction and training on the appropriate precautions and actions to be taken by the employee in order to safeguard himself and other relevant persons on the premises.
Fire Awareness Training (2 hours)
The importance of fire safety in the workplace is underpinned by health and safety legislation that places a duty on employers to establish policies and procedures and ensure their employees receive appropriate training.
This London Fire Consultants Fire Safety Awareness is designed for all employees as an introduction to fire awareness and is an excellent ingredient in the induction programme of new employees. It deals with how fires can occur and what to do in the event of a fire.
This course also provides a foundation for those employees who want to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc).
Syllabus - A range of subjects are covered including:
- The common causes of fire.
- Legislation (brief)
- Fire prevention
- How to use fire extinguishers
- The behaviour of fire
- Responsibilities
- What to do if a fire breaks out
- Emergency evacuation procedures
Fire Marshall Training (3 hours)
This Fire Marshall Training Course for London Organisation is designed for employees who want to develop their basic fire safety awareness. This is normally to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc.)
Successful candidates will be awarded a national level 2 qualification.
Syllabus - A range of subjects are covered including:
- The hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace.
- How fire risk is controlled in the workplace.
- The role of the nominated fire warden.
- The principles and practice of fire safety management at work.
- Fire Safety "Walk Round"
